ABOUT ME- Myiesha

Writer | Content Creator | Learner

I am a first-year Law student at the University of Birmingham. Beyond academics, I am passionate about creative expression. I have self-published a poetry collection (Pacific and Utopian Lakes) and written various articles for my personal blog. These projects have expanded my perspective and taught me to adapt my voice for different audiences. I aim to write essays on literature, film, and spirituality. This is a space built for honouring the creative spirit, as well as engaging in important discussions about different forms of art.

Pacific and Utopian Lakes is my debut book, now available worldwide. The book explores the contrast between reality and idealism, focusing excessively on complex human emotions and significant social causes. Most poems revolve around the themes of finding acceptance even in the cruellest of
situations.

This collection is divided into four parts:

  • “Hope” is the world through the eyes of a child- innocent, untouched and liberated.
  • “Archaelogogist’s tour” tells the journey of not just the people or incidents I write about, but of myself as an outsider.
  • “Renaissance”, then, should be rebirth-the abyss. But no onde has died, we just alter. We alter in such manner that we can’t be traced back to our past.
  • Finally, “Blue” is what’s underneath it all-the trenches.

For the New Year: As a Writer

It comes with expectations and disappointments. Sighs of relief and melancholy. You’re perched on a threshold — looking ahead at the untrodden road that lies before you, whilst looking back at how far you’ve come. But one thing remains the same: you made it. Let that mean something. To the creative spirit: thank you for…

Between Nature and Belief: Illusion, Decay, and the Human Condition

Humanity has long attempted to explain natural and mystical phenomenons via various belief systems, be it science or mythology. Mushrooms, in particular, occupy an uneasy position within literature and folklore. Across Romantic poetry, modern literature and philosophy, mushrooms emerge as the bridge between humanity’s relationship with reality and illusion. This grey area prompted me to…
